The Cutty Sark is a tea clipper launched in 1869 in Dumbarton, Scotland. It is a typical high-speed vessel with a length six times its width, and a gross tonnage of 963 tons. It boasted a top speed of over 17 knots. At the time, wood was scarce, so it was a composite ship made of wood and iron, using steel frame and teak planking for the hull. It is still preserved today in Greenwich as the only surviving clipper ship.
